Both Tasmania and Western Australia occupy the status of being outposts in this continent.

In considering these two states, my art making has provided contentment as well as confusion and hesitation. Having feet planted firmly in both places seems like a lovely way to enjoy life across worlds of extreme differences, but there are times it can be a stretch, with the weight transferring from one foot to another.

The past seven years have been ways to reclaim thinking, and a work ethic to explore and investigate. It’s a tricky balance of the past, the here and now, and the future. There are times I feel I’ve placed myself on the periphery. That’s not necessarily a negative, but it has come with some cost.

It takes time to build a reserve of new memories to reflect on to seperate the past from the passed past.
