I am at my calmest when I’m immersed in secluded nature and all else that distracts me has the chance to fade away. It’s a stunning place of reflection; of solace and rest. I want to explore the art of dwelling in the moment. My desire is to paint the feeling that I experience when I’m in those places that silence my crazy inner world. If a viewer observes my work and feels drawn into a sense of calm, then I feel I have reached my goal. I used to be obsessed with water, but my latest fascination with trees and bushland has overtaken that love. There is something so rugged, wild and beautiful about our Tassie forest that it cannot be compared easily to the rest of our country. I want to relish this scenery and enjoy what it has to offer me.
