Luminous Narratives

Jen Dickens, Paul Snell, Scott Cunningham and Troy Ruffels

July 31 - August 17

The “Luminous Narratives” art exhibition showcases the works of four Launceston-based artists: Jen Dickens, Paul Snell, Scott Cunningham, and Troy Ruffels. Each artist brings a unique perspective and style, creating a vibrant visual narrative. Jen Dickens’ intricate works explore the nuances of human habitat and the impact we leave on the world, while Paul Snell explores and exploits the emotional and evocative effects of colour, both in an ocular sense and a physical one. His images are abstract, yet also declare a certain concrete recognition of their own material substance. Scott Cunningham’s work, in this series, delves into a response to place, Larapuna on the East Coast of Tasmania, offering a contemplative view of its beauty, fragility and the legacy that lives on. Troy Ruffels’ innovative approach blends traditional and contemporary techniques, resulting in striking, thought-provoking art romanticising past, present, and future. Together, these artists exemplify a diverse and rich artistic journey, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in their luminous narratives.
