Quilt No. 4 (Better the Devil you Know)

Clara Martin

Cotton, polyester, bamboo fibre, quilting & appliqué / 70 x 86 cm

$600.00

Statement: Part of a larger body of works titles ‘Necessary Torture’ exploring the
dynamic of femininity and witchcraft or devil worship. It explores how the context of
behaviour, especially behaviour often assigned to women, femme and female
presenting people is demonised and punished.

Hanging instructions: the quilt has a sleeve sewn to the back top edge through which
a dowel / pole can be placed. It is recommended that the quilt be suspended from
this, however, the artist allows curatorial discretion as to how best to hang the work.
