Walls of Jerusalem Collection

John Gibb

June 2025

Some of my most beloved memories of hiking through the primordial landscapes of the Tasmanian wilderness are from walking and camping within the Walls of Jerusalem National Park. Standing in this same location on a clear day you can see a majestic mountain boldly looming over the glassy, tannin-stained waters of the Pool of Siloam. On this particular occasion however, the view was completely transformed by the morning mist that engulfed the landscape. I was privileged to witness a special intimacy created by the mist which blanketed the iconic, ancient pencil pines and tarn before me. The brooding quietness and solitude of this experience kindled a new perspective and deeper appreciation for this corner of Tasmania which I so dearly love.
