Waiting for Leda
Daria Andrews
oil on linen / 100 x 100 cm
The painting refers to the myth of Leda and Zeus, who came to her in the form of a swan. In most depictions, the story shows seduction or violence. Here, that moment never.
She is not doing what is expected from her.
The painting is about absence and about not participating in a story that was already written.
Daria Andrews
Daria Andrews paints figures caught in mysterious, emotional moments, often naked, deformed, or fragmented, enveloped by bold colours, surrounded by imaginary creatures and mystical symbols. She builds a personal relation with her audience, inviting them into her intimate world via a captured gesture, gaze or shifting focal point. Through her art she shows the importance of personal transformation by finding her own ways of expression, self-confidence, and freedom.
