THE CANBERRA COLLECTION

Jen Brown

archival quality ink on rag paper

These images reveal Canberra’s diverse communities and the cultural richness they bring. The large centre image in colour is a composite set of portraits captured on Holi Day, the ‘festival of colours’ led by Canberra’s Hindu community, a playful annual event in which powder paint is thrown exuberantly over friends and family. For me, it was a visual feast and I loved the levity and playfulness… albeit feeling a little nervous that coloured powder might infiltrate  my precious Leica! The surrounding black & white images portray Canberra’s annual multicultural festival which celebrates diversity through food, performance, art and craft, and several days of dedicated partying in the city centre.

Large images 60x60cm $360.00 each
